The premium figures for the year 2020-21 are available now & oriental Insurance is the biggest looser in premium income with accretion of over 1200 crore & growth decline of 8.92%. Seventeen out of 25 non-life insurers have managed to recover rom the the Covid effect whereas the other eight have shown decline. leaving aside the HDC ergo which is having highest accretion due to merger with a life vertical sister concern, new India has the highest accretion figures of 1668 Cr. The other top performer is SBI General with growth rate of 21.59% & accretion of 1467 cr.
New age purely digital insurer is the biggest surprise with accretion of 649 Cr & growth rate of over 36%. Most of the business acquired is through the on-line mode & even the claim are being fast tracked through a digital platform.
