Half yearly premium figures of non-life insurers have been released & although it appears that public sector insurers are on revival mode & their mkt. share is increasing but when analyzing the figures of various segments, it becomes clear that their revival is based on the highly loss making “Health portfolio ”. More than 50% of their premium income has come via health segment only.
They are being driven out of the “Motor segment” by the private insurers as is visible from the premium figures up to sep-22. Presently their Mkt share in the “Motor OD” segment has come down to 22.17% only.
Half yearly Motor OD premium wise New India is at no.2, United India at no.9, National insurance at no.10 & Oriental insurance at No. 16 out of total 24 no’s of general insurers.
